Botox

Botulinum toxin, colloquially known as BOTOX, is a substance capable of releasing muscle contractions. It is used to reduce or prevent facial expression and subsequent smoothing. Botulinum toxin is mainly used to remove “wrinkles of anger” (glabella), horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, fan lines at the corners of the eyes, but it is also mainly used to prevent the formation of these wrinkles.

Pathologically increased sweating – hyperhidrosis – is the medical term for excessive sweating, a disease that begins in youth and, without treatment, accompanies the affected person throughout life. Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) is a neurotoxin that binds to the nerve endings of the sweat glands. It blocks the production of acetylcholine, which mediates the production of sweat.

Wrinkle correction

Effects and areas of the procedure

  • skin rejuvenation, removal and reduction of wrinkle intensity, repeated procedures prolong the effect
  • areas of the procedure for wrinkle removal – glabella (wrinkles of anger), forehead, around the eyes

Course of the procedure

The procedure is performed relatively quickly, with several injections – depending on the location and type of wrinkles. Pain is limited to the feeling of a gentle injection. After application, it is recommended to intensively use facial expressions of the treated area, stay upright for 3-4 hours, do not lie on your back or stomach, do not lean forward. Mild redness or small bruises after the injections subside within 48 hours to 7 days.

Information about the procedure

The onset of the effect and its duration are individual. It depends on the intensity of the contraction of the mimic muscle, the rate of degradation of the active substance and the rate of regeneration of the nerve endings in the muscle. The effect begins in many people within 48 hours, is fully developed after 14-21 days and lasts an average of 3-6 months. Since the treated area is constantly regenerating, the use of botulinum toxin in the correction of wrinkles is a very safe medical and cosmetic method. Possible drooping of the eyelid (ptosis), double vision (diplopia) and dry eyes are corrected within 2-4 weeks. Bruising and swelling are short-lived, the burning sensation and pain during the injection are individual.

Who is the procedure suitable for

Botulinum toxin is suitable for women and men from 18 to 65 years of age. It is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Sweating Removal

Areas of Procedure

  • Underarms
  • Palms
  • Feet
  • Forehead

Procedure

The principle of action of botulinum toxin (BOTOX) is to prevent the transmission of impulses from a certain type of nerve fiber to the muscle or sweat gland. Botulinum toxin injections lead to a significant reduction in local hyperhidrosis. The botulinum toxin preparation is applied with a thin needle in very small doses to the skin of the affected area. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, is time-consuming and painless. The result is a significant reduction in sweat production.

Information about the procedure

The effect of botulinum toxin becomes apparent 2-4 days after application and lasts for a relatively long time (4-12 months). It is not a permanent cure, but a significant reduction in sweating.
